Practical information

Clarifying intention

The musico(psycho)therapy process begins with clarifying the request and defining the intention of the work. Why am I considering engaging in such a process? What benefits would I like to gain from it? What concrete transformations would I like to see occur within myself and in my life? This initial phase begins with completing the new patient questionnaire. After the questionnaire has been reviewed and your request validated, a preparatory meeting (60 minutes) will be scheduled. During this first meeting, you will have the opportunity to discuss the objectives of the treatment, explore your motivations in relation to your life history and current situation, and receive information about the experiential component of the treatment in preparation for the next stages of the process.

How sessions unfold

The treatment then continues with 90-minute musico-(psycho)therapy sessions, held once a month. Each session consists of an initial experiential phase of the sound ritual, during which you will lie comfortably and experience a sound and musical journey. Sounds and frequencies interact with your brain activity and promote the emergence of images, bodily sensations, and memories; they may also allow for the release of repressed energies or emotions, or the experience of deep states of relaxation and well-being. A time for sharing and putting the experience into words follows, allowing it to be interpreted and considered in light of the initial intention as well as previous therapeutic experiences, and to appreciate the invitations to change that it reveals.

The monthly rhythm of the sessions allows time for integration into daily life of the energetic, somatic, psychological, and/or spiritual transformations that occur during the sessions. If there is a need to deepen the experiences and the integration process, it is possible to undertake additional somatic experiencing sessions with my colleague, Myranda Simpson.
